Smile Sanctuary Dental: A fresh take on dentistry

Built on bucking the trend of what is considered common practice in the dental industry, Smile Sanctuary Dental is forging a path grounded in care, but powered by innovation. Formed by a passion for catering to a patients’ needs, Dr Kyriakos Tambassis and Deanna Tambassis started Smile Sanctuary Dental with a mission to change the dentistry game and empower patients.

We had the pleasure of speaking with the founders of Smile Sanctuary Dental – Dr Kyriakos Tambassis, a practicing dentist and Deanna Tambassis, Head of Operations – about their experiences in beginning and expanding their business into what it is today.

In the leafy, village-like suburb of Mortdale, New South Wales, innovation is finding its way into the Dentistry world. Husband and wife duo, Kyriakos & Deanna Tambassis, formed their very own dental practice, Smile Sanctuary Dental, in 2025.

Smile Sanctuary was born with the vision of creating a haven to achieve your smile goals in a relaxing and comforting environment.

From toddlers experiencing their first dental visit, brides wanting a smile makeover before their big day, or to those just wanting to re-set their dental health journey, they have all smiles covered.

“At Smile Sanctuary Dental, we ensure that we are always going that extra mile to ensure we look beyond just the traditional scope of our work and instead consider our patients’ overall comfort, oral health and wellbeing.  We also offer accessible pricing and flexible payment methods to ensure we can provide care to the wider community” Deanna said.

When establishing the business, Smile Sanctuary Dental reached out to Nexia for advice. Vincent Scali at Nexia assisted the Smile Sanctuary team with strategic financial planning, tax compliance support, and performance monitoring.

“It is so important in business to play to your strengths and then outsource or hire the experts to do what you can’t.  While Deanna and I both understand the world of dentistry inside and out, accounting – particularly in the small business environment – is not our strong suit. So, we certainly couldn’t have achieved all that we have without Vincent’s support,” Kyriakos said.

Just as brushing and dental visits prevent decay, budgeting and saving prevent financial crises. In both fields, trust in professional guidance and a focus on long-term outcomes over quick fixes are key to lasting health.

“From setting up everything from a structural and accounts perspective, to being there on the phone at any point in time, Vince and the team at Nexia have certainly been a lifeline in our business. We cannot recommend them enough.”
